AI, wow… It’s been a crazy last month in developments alone: making songs using famous artists’ voices, automating tasks, and booking vacations… what can’t AI do now?

A lot of people are asking this question… but a better question may be: How will AI replace our skills and take away our purpose?

Not only are jobs being taken by AI but people who have spent years learning a skill and mastering it can now be replicated in many ways by artificial systems that have the capacity to grow & scale alongside given processing power.

The following tweets by Tiago Forte outline this lack of motivation to continue on some fronts, because of a coming AI revolution that is both incredibly exciting & incredibly daunting.

Tiago mentioned that one of the biggest challenges of AI’s growth will be people’s ability to adapt emotionally.

With all of the things AI is taking over many people’s plans for the future will completely be changed in what feels like an instant.

Time to learn more, or give up?

Should you even learn a new skill? is it worth it?

As humans we pick up skills in all walks of life, to be better in our jobs, in our relationships, & overall growing as humans to make our life better in some capacity.

AI will add a lot of layers to this better life in my eyes, but as mentioned above, a ton of people will feel consistently displaced by all the things new technology enables everyone to do with a lot less prior skill required.

Human knowledge accrues value in almost everything, trillions of dollars are made & transferred based on knowledge alone.

So now with AI, people are wondering if this threatens our knowledge value and if anyone can do anything using AI.

But learning a new skill means more than just learning how to do something, it requires understanding.

AI can be a very great tool to learn new skills too, asking ChatGPT to be your tutor on really any subject is an amazing starting place to pick up new skills that can help you explore whatever you want to learn more about.

AI does a great job at coming up with solutions to our problems, but you as a human are needed to be the middleman to transfer value from an output to the general population.

Here’s a quick example.

People can now get code outputs with AI but they still lack understanding, so people will fail to connect the dots or get overwhelmed when they want to add something specific without understanding how everything works.

Learning skills or consulting with AI as a tutor lets you leverage AI best.

The short answer is if you should still learn new skills is yes, absolutely yes.

Exploring our curiosities is actually becoming easier, & the more understanding you have in any given field or skill, the more likely you are to achieve your desired outcome.

Leverage AI to learn new skills, compound them together as you develop more understanding, fill in the gaps in your knowledge, and create your desired output.

Jobs Not Exposed to AI

Now, if you’re really worried still & don’t think you’ll be able to cut it following the above path then here’s a short list from OpenAI (the creators of ChatGPT) on jobs that have no AI-exposed tasks.

Even with jobs that aren’t replaceable by AI currently, you can probably imagine a world where robots are doing almost all of these jobs or a new way of production involving some sort of AI or Machine learning that takes away the need for many of the above-listed occupations.

It’s important to mention once again that AI’s biggest challenge will be the struggle of a new reality, things once thought impossible or not even thought of at all are now the norm, & it happened far faster than humans can comprehend.

Conclusions

AI does a great job at coming up with solutions to our problems, but you as a human are needed to be the middleman to transfer value from an output to the general population.

Leverage AI to learn new skills, compound them together as you develop more understanding, fill in the gaps in your knowledge, and create your desired output.

AI is scary, but AI is also a tool we can all leverage to create better chances of achieving desired results.

Most people are scared but don’t take any time to learn the skill that is: using AI to their benefit.
